// MEASURED, NOT ESTIMATED

Measure what you
have to prove.

New EU rules make gas a legal obligation.
We build the NDIR channel that survives the verifier.

What the law now makes you measure

Demand for gas measurement is compliance demand: it appears where a rule obliges an operator to measure a gas, not estimate it. Four EU instruments already in force, mapped to the Tremon channel that satisfies them. Dates checked against the primary texts and Commission guidance, September 2026. Nine applications in detail: applications page →

[01] F-gas · Regulation (EU) 2024/573
SF₆ switchgear: the leak-check exemption needs a density monitor
Putting new SF₆ switchgear into operation is banned in steps by voltage class. The installed fleet stays in service for decades — and is exempt from periodic leak checks only if its tested leakage rate is < 0.1 % per year and labelled as such, or if it is “equipped with a pressure or density monitoring device with an automatic alert system while in operation”.

[02] Methane · Regulation (EU) 2024/1787
Methane: find, quantify and repair leaks — on a deadline
In force since 4 Aug 2024. Oil, gas and coal operators must measure, report and verify methane at source and run leak-detection-and-repair surveys; leaks found must be repaired, mostly within 5 or 15 working days, and re-checked. Importers follow: the obligation travels up the global supply chain.

[03] Biomethane · REPowerEU
Biomethane: grid injection needs CH₄ + CO₂ you can prove
The EU targets 35 bcm of sustainable biomethane per year by 2030, with an estimated investment need of €37 billion. Every new digester and injection point needs continuous CH₄ (energy content) and CO₂ readings — for process control and for gas-quality proof at the grid.

gas → TremonCH₄ 0–100 vol% · CO₂ ppm → 100 vol% → IR·OEM CO₂/CH₄ channel for analyser makers and skid builders, heated cell against condensate — the two channels NDIR does best.
[04] Industrial emissions · Directive (EU) 2024/1785
Industrial emissions: continuous monitoring written into the permit
The revised Industrial Emissions Directive applies since 2 Aug 2024 to around 75 000 installations, binding emission limits and monitoring to best available techniques; data goes to the new Industrial Emissions Portal from 2028. Continuous emission monitoring with EN 14181 quality assurance (QAL) is the norm for large sources.

[+] CBAM · Regulation (EU) 2023/956
Definitive regime since 1 Jan 2026. Importers declare embedded emissions “based either on actual verified emissions data or on default emissions values” — only a verified measurement lets you declare your own, lower number. → NDIR CO₂ process / CEMS data feeding verification. · EC, CBAM verification
[+] Buildings · Directive (EU) 2024/1275 (EPBD)
Transposition by 29 May 2026; zero-emission standard for new public buildings from 2028, all new buildings from 2030. Non-residential zero-emission buildings must be equipped with measuring and control devices for indoor-air-quality monitoring. → IR·OEM CO₂ channel for building-automation makers; a volume play, specified per project. · EC, EPBD
// why Tremon

Other sensor houses sell you "cost-effective" or "low drift". We sell a number you can defend. Every NDIR channel ships calibrated traceable to national primary gas standards (RvA / ISO 17025 · VSL, Delft) — the reading a verifier accepts, not just "ppm on a display".

Sustainability economics

Measurement that pays for itself

Every leak you can measure has a price attached — carbon, commodity or penalty. That moves the buying decision from the instrumentation engineer to the CFO and the ESG officer.

24 300×
SF₆ global-warming potential · Annex I, Reg. 2024/573
One kilogram of leaked SF₆ is 24.3 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent — at EU-ETS carbon prices a four-figure sum per kilogram. A density monitor with automatic alert catches the leak before it becomes an emission report.
5–15 days
Methane leak-repair deadline · Reg. 2024/1787
Every leak found is gas kept in the pipe and sold, not vented. Measurement turns a compliance cost into recovered product — and a repair you can prove was done in time.
verified > default
CBAM declarations · since 1 Jan 2026
Declare on verified actual emissions or accept the default value. Only measured, verifiable data lets you claim your real, lower number — the instrument and its calibration certificate are the evidence.
Why NDIR

The physics that survives dirty streams

[+] non-consumptive
5+ years, no cell to replace — nothing is used up measuring.
[+] no chemistry
Physical IR absorption → stable zero/span, low long-term drift.
[+] poison-proof
Unaffected by silicone, sulphur or H₂S — survives dirty streams.
[+] selective
Each gas = a unique IR line → minimal cross-talk.
[+] wide range
One principle from ppm to 100 vol%, single or multi-gas.
[+] robust build
T / P / H₂O compensation, low-power OEM boards, Ex-ready housings.
// and what NDIR does not do — O₂, H₂ and Cl₂ have no usable IR absorption; H₂S in wet gas is masked by water; NOₓ sits outside the strong IR bands. Those go to electrochemical, catalytic or semiconductor channels in our TRM-EX multi-sensor. We only advertise the gases the physics delivers.

How you buy

From one-off sensor to a compliance you keep

Regulation makes measurement a recurring duty. We sell it the same way — hardware opens the door, the calibration record keeps the number defensible year after year.

[OEM channel]
Your instrument. Our NDIR channel. The sensing core with an interface contract, into your analyser or skid. Lowest cost of adoption, highest volume.
[compliance-grade instrument]
Field transmitter or density monitor delivered with a traceable calibration certificate per unit — the number you defend in an audit.
[retrofit · legacy SF₆ fleet]
Density monitoring with automatic alert on switchgear that stays in service after the phase-out dates — the path to the leak-check exemption.
[recalibration & re-verification]
A defined recalibration interval (DM-91: 3 years) and a per-unit calibration record — a service you plan, not a surprise.
[monitoring → report]
Pilot programme: continuous monitoring with data structured for methane MRV, ETS/CBAM or F-gas records. By application, on request.
[concierge → productised]
First custom jobs are scoped as engineering projects; what repeats becomes a standard SKU. You get an engineer, not a catalogue.

FAQ
My SF₆ switchgear stays in service after the phase-out dates — what does 2024/573 require?
Periodic leak checks — unless the switchgear has a tested leakage rate below 0.1 % per year and is labelled as such, is equipped with a pressure or density monitoring device with an automatic alert system while in operation, or contains less than 6 kg of Annex I gases. The DM-91 is that monitoring device, with the alert on Modbus to your SCADA. This is a summary, not legal advice — confirm the applicable clause with your national competent authority.
Which gases can NDIR not measure?
O₂, H₂ and Cl₂ have no usable IR absorption; H₂S in wet gas is masked by water vapour; NOₓ sits outside the strong IR bands. We route those to electrochemical, catalytic or semiconductor channels in the TRM-EX multi-sensor — and we do not advertise NDIR for them.
Can you build a single-gas channel, or only a multi-gas family?
Both. We scope to exactly the channel your obligation needs — one gas or several. No forced upsell to a bigger platform.
Do you deliver a raw sensor or an integrated module?
Your choice: a ready-to-integrate OEM board for your instrument, or a benched module. We hand over the interface contract (RS232 · UART · CAN · Modbus · Ethernet · LoRa · 4–20 mA), not a mystery box.
Is the calibration certificate traceable?
Yes — every channel ships calibrated traceable to national primary gas standards (RvA / ISO 17025 method · VSL, Delft). Audit-proof, with a calibration record per unit.
Can it be Ex / hazardous-area ready?
Yes — the TRM-EX family is certified Ex db IIC T6 Gb X; for OEM channels we design enclosures, seals and the compliance path for Ex-rated environments. Tell us the zone and directive on the spec call.
Can you ship to our country?
We export from the Netherlands worldwide within EU export-control (Reg. 2021/821) and sanctions rules. Standard industrial NDIR analysers are not listed dual-use items; we self-classify every product and screen every end-user, and we do not supply Russia, Belarus, Iran, DPRK, Syria or the occupied territories of Ukraine.
How do we start — and what does it cost?
Send the form: gas, range, matrix, the rule and the decision it protects. You get a reply within 24h, a feasibility read and a quote. We can sign an NDA before you share anything proprietary.
